Choosing a Wedding Photographer

Your wedding photography is the most important part of your special day. Why? Your photography will last forever and will be enjoyed by all for years and years to come. For this reason- never "settle" for a wedding photographer. Find one that you get along great with and one that shares the style you are looking for.

Please remember these tips when interviewing your photographer:

- Meet with your photographer in person. How many meetings will you have together before your wedding day? Will you be meeting again to go over a wedding day outline? Will you be meeting to discuss "must have" pictures?
- See samples of their work, either on their web site or in person, and when you find photos you love, ask questions. Can you preview a recent wedding that they have shot? Do these pictures tell a story of their wedding day?
- How many photographers will be shooting your wedding day story?
- Find out if they shoot film or digital, and what they describe as their photographic style? Artistic? Candid? Classic?
- Find out who will be retouching the photos?
- Find out what is included in the packages for the price you will be paying. Can you create your own package?
- Find out how many hours of coverage are included, as well as the pricing per hour.
- Find out if they bring additional lighting to make your pictures perfect?
- Do they offer proposal, engagement, boudoir, and bridal photo sessions? This is a great way for the photographer to get to know you, and for you to get to know them! Is the photographer available to shoot your rehearsal dinner, or to be available to attend your rehearsal?
- Know the photographers payment, refund, cancellation, and change of date policy?
- Find out if there is a limit on how many pictures are taken throughout your day?
- Find out if they offer professional heirloom quality albums, prints, jewelry, purses, canvas art, and more?
- Are there travel charges involved?
- Will there be additional location charges if you shoot photography in more than two locations?
- Do you have a photography checklist, or will you take my requests so I make sure I get your VIP photos?
- Find out if you receive a "release of negatives" if you purchase a CD of your event.
- Does the photographer provide Black & White, Sepia, and special hand tinting requests?
- Is he/she a member of the Professional Photographers Association, (PPA)?
- Will you receive a contract with all of your pertinent information displayed?
- Do you feel like you will have gained a new friend after your wedding photographer meeting process?

Does this photographer "move" you and do you see emotion in the photographs? If the answer is yes, this photographer is a perfect fit for you! Schedule your appointment with Hagerty Photography today to get all of your questions answered.

Best Wishes,
Sarah Hagerty
